Andrew Vincent was born and raised in Oregon.  He moved to Augusta in 1982, where he lives today with his wife Janet, and his three children Julie, Amy, and Drew.

A number of artists in his family served to inspire an interest in painting, primarily his grandfather, Andrew Vincent, Sr., who was a well-known landscape painter in the Pacific Northwest.  His "training" is primarily from years of exposure to his grandfather's works, and to the great Impressionists through books and museums, to then at last begin creating works of his own.

He works in watercolors, acrylics and oils, toward an impressionist style.  "Painting, and paintings are places to enter into.  Creation of art comes working from a vision or an idea, through a time of expectant uncertainty as the work evolves, into familiar form, color and depth.  The best results often come not with deliberate and perfectly thought out execution, but with pleasure of surprise and discovery."

His work has been displayed a number of times locally.  His painting "5 O'Clock Shadow" won an award for "Best in Show" in the Aiken Artist Guild show.  His work may be seen at Gallery on the Row, 1016 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia.
