georgene wrightGeorgene spent much of her time as a child drawing people and animals. Her northern Minnesota education gave her a wonderful start to her art career.  Later she studied graphic design and illustration in the Pacific Northwest. Learning is never ending. Classes, workshops, critiques, and competitions all contribute to keeping the creative juices flowing.

Although Georgene’s creativity is very diverse in content as well as medium, her love of nature is readily apparent. She wants people to look at her work and see beauty and peace in ordinary, simple things. “My work is realistic in style and subject matter is important. However, it is the composition and the abstract that I respond to - the relationship of one component to another, the interplay of positive and negative spaces.”

Georgene has participated in art competitions, exhibitions, festivals, and gallery shows including:

The Aiken Center for the Arts, Aiken, SC
The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, Augusta, GA
The Sumter Gallery, Sumter, SC,
The Florence Museum of Art, Florence, SC
The Index Gallery, Vancouver, WA
Women Artist of the Columbia Gorge, Washington State

She has won numerous awards in oils, watercolor, and color pencil including the Edda McCordic Scholarship Award from Clark College in Washington State.

She is a co-owner/partner of “Gallery on the Row” at Augusta Georgia’s Artist Row and a board member of the North Augusta Artist Council. She is also a member of Augusta’s Artist Row Association, North Augusta Artist Guild, Aiken Center for the Arts, and a past president of the Aiken South Carolina Artist Guild.

Georgene’s works are in private collections throughout the United States and are currently available at the “Gallery on the Row” in Augusta, Georgia.
