Art has always been a part of my life. As a young child, I doodled on every surface imaginable. My parents were impressed with my doodles, so they enrolled me in the Gertrude Herbert Art Institute. The next place I studied Art was at Augusta College (now Augusta State University). While at Augusta College I studied under Nathan Bindler, Dave Jones and Eugenia Comer.
For years I put my art on the backburner. Although, raising a family was very fulfilling, I missed being creative. My art may have been out of sight, but it was never out of mind. Because of this longing to quench my thirst as an artist, I returned to painting about 13 years ago and I am now enjoying a blossoming career as an artist in the Augusta, Georgia area.
I am having so much fun these days!!! My latest artistic adventure has been to paint the Town! And I do mean literally paint the town; for I have made it my quest to paint historical landmarks and other well-known places in the Augusta area. The fun part is that I have given myself the freedom to paint as creatively as I feel, totally defying the laws of nature!!!! Adding to my fun…is seeing people’s reactions to my paintings. I am always being asked, “How did you come up with that?” Well, my answer is “It all just comes out of my head!!” Oh, go ahead and say it… “You think I’m weird!!!” But that’s okay, for I am having the time of my life! I am excited about my current quest as an artist, locally, but also intend to broaden my horizons, reaching beyond the boundaries of the Augusta area in the near future.
